The Pussycat Dolls began in Los Angeles in 1995 as a neo-burlesque troupe founded by the choreographer Robin Antin. It was Jimmy Iovine who suggested taking it mainstream, and Antin negotiated a deal with Interscope Geffen A&M in 2003 that turned the troupe into a pop group of Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Kimberly Wyatt. "Don't Cha", "Stickwitu" and "Buttons" and the debut PCD followed in 2005, Doll Domination in 2008, and 55 million records in total. A reunion announced in 2019 lost its tour to cancellation in 2022; Roberts, Scherzinger and Wyatt have since returned as a trio.
