The Body are an American experimental metal duo formed in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1999 by guitarist-vocalist Chip King and drummer-programmer Lee Buford. Working at the sludgier, noisier edge of doom, they blend crushing guitars, electronics, choral voices and power electronics into records that feel less like songs than immersions. Their 2010 album All the Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood, made with the Assembly of Light choir, drew wide critical acclaim, and the pair have since become two of underground metal's most restless collaborators, sharing releases with Thou, Full of Hell and Uniform among many others. More than 25 years in, The Body remain hugely prolific across solo and joint albums. Live, they are known for punishing volume and an oppressive, cathartic intensity.
