The Black Crowes are an American rock band formed in Atlanta in 1984, built around brothers Chris Robinson on vocals and Rich Robinson on guitar. Originally called Mr. Crowe's Garden, they adopted their current name in 1989 and steeped their sound in southern rock, blues rock and jam-band looseness drawn from classic 1970s influences. Their 1990 debut Shake Your Money Maker, home to hits "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels," launched them to multi-platinum success, and 1992's The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion entered the Billboard 200 at number one. They have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. After breakups and hiatuses, the Robinsons reunited the band in 2019. Revered as a live act, they carry a reputation for loose, improvisational, jam-heavy concerts.
