Talia Mar was writing songs and poems at eight, taught herself guitar at eleven and was producing her own tracks by fourteen, before the BRIT School and a spell working behind a bar at Chessington World of Adventures. The debut single Stolen came in 2016 and the EP Tough Decisions followed. She signed to RCA Records in 2021, and Stay the Night, made with Sigala, reached number eleven on the UK singles chart; Sweet Lies with Nathan Dawe came next. She grew up in South London on a diet of 90s music and R&B.
