Sunset Sweatshop started ten years ago, when a few friends with day jobs began getting together after hours in a workshop in Joostenbergvlakte — no studio and no money, just instruments and an excuse to make noise until midnight. The name came from what happened once the sun went down. They went from bars around Stellenbosch and Bellville to touring Southern Africa, crossing into Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia, and from the Splashy Fen River Stage in front of about ten people in 2017 to that festival's main stage. "Move It" became a number-one hit and took the Bokkie Award for Best Song, the band was named Band of the Year, and "Coming Along", "Aye", "Kick It" and "Be One" followed. The sound is ghoema rock, reggae, funk and soul.
