Sound of the Sirens are Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood, a singer-songwriting duo based in Exeter, Devon, who have honed their craft over a decade into firm favourites on the Westcountry scene and nationally — "one of the UK's finest folk acts", as one review of the album Damage Control had it. The instrumentation is vast for two people: Martin plays acoustic and high-strung guitar in Nashville tuning, mandolin and bass drum, Wood acoustic and electric guitar, tambourine, snare drum and piano. Their co-written songs range from emotive ballads to foot-stomping singalong anthems, and take in past relationships and life experiences alongside mental health awareness and homelessness.
