Kevin Morby is an American singer-songwriter, born in Lubbock, Texas, in 1988 and raised around Kansas City before moving to Brooklyn as a teenager. Working in an indie- and folk-rock idiom shaped by Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Nina Simone, he first played bass in the noise-folk band Woods and co-founded the side project The Babies before going solo. His eight studio albums include Harlem River (2013), Singing Saw (2016), City Music (2017), the critically acclaimed Oh My God (2019), Sundowner (2020) and This Is a Photograph (2022), and in 2017 he launched his own Mare Records imprint. He frequently collaborates with his partner, Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield. A touring musician since 2008, Morby is known live for his loose, collaborative sets and fondness for cover interpretations.
