Kerttu

Kerttu is a Finnish singer-songwriter and self-proclaimed island girl whose powerful yet delicate voice and guitar work move between original songs and the traditional Finnish folk songs and lullabies she has gathered through her life. Her debut album, Saari, grew out of an urge to understand her own experience of this human life, the mystery of love and her relationship with nature; she is putting the finishing touches to it. Her voice, in her promoter's phrase, dances across octaves like a stone skipping across water towards the pine forests, island beaches and archipelagos of her childhood. She has lived in London for nine years and plays there with musician friends she has met in that time.
