(Hed) P.E.

Hed PE came out of the Huntington Beach hardcore punk scene in 1994, formed by vocalist Jared Gomes and guitarist Wes Geer and named for a Gomes song called Heavy Head. The PE was forced onto the end by legal trouble, standing first for Planetary Evolution and later planet earth. They call what they play G-punk, gangsta rap fused with punk rock and shot through with reggae. The catalogue runs to sixteen studio albums and more than 700,000 records sold, on Jive, then Suburban Noize, and since 2014 on Pavement Music.
