Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, born in Ripley, Surrey, in 1945 and widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists in the music's history. He built his reputation through the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos before a long solo career spanning albums like 461 Ocean Boulevard, Slowhand and the 1992 MTV Unplugged. His songbook runs from “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight” to the Grammy-winning “Tears in Heaven” and “Change the World”. A three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and winner of 18 Grammy Awards, Clapton has sold around 100 million records and remains a touchstone live draw whose playing earned the nickname “Slowhand”.
