Cory Wong is an American guitarist, composer and producer born around 1985 in Poughkeepsie, New York, and based in Minneapolis, whose crisp, staccato funk playing has made him a distinctive modern voice on the instrument. He is a recurring member of the funk collectives Vulfpeck and The Fearless Flyers and has released a steady stream of solo albums, among them The Optimist (2018), which reached number nineteen on the US Jazz Albums chart. In 2021 he earned a Grammy nomination for his work on Jon Batiste's Meditations, and he hosts the music-and-comedy web series Cory and the Wongnotes. A tireless road act, Wong tours extensively across the United States and Europe as a bandleader and with Vulfpeck, and is celebrated live for tight, joyful, groove-driven shows.
