Chance the Rapper, born Chancelor Bennett, made his name with the mixtape Acid Rap in 2013 and became a leading figure in Chicago hip-hop while staying independent. Coloring Book, in 2016, was the first streaming-only project to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, and its single "No Problem" won Best Rap Performance. The Big Day peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 in 2019 and Star Line followed in 2025. He belongs to the Chicago collective Savemoney, sings with the Social Experiment, judged Rhythm + Flow and coached on The Voice, and has campaigned for the public education system in Chicago.
