Black Stone Cherry are an American hard rock and southern rock band formed in Edmonton, Kentucky, in 2001, built around the friendship of vocalist-guitarist Chris Robertson, guitarist Ben Wells and drummer John Fred Young. Across eight studio albums they have charted seventeen singles on the US Mainstream Rock chart, with 2016's Kentucky topping the Billboard Hard Rock albums chart and 2014's Magic Mountain reaching number five in the UK. The band draw openly on their Bluegrass State roots, pairing riff-heavy hard rock with blues covers released on standalone EPs. They were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2011 Classic Rock Awards. Relentless touring underpins their reputation: they are Download Festival regulars and have supported Lynyrd Skynyrd, Def Leppard and Alice Cooper, best known live for muscular, crowd-pleasing shows.
