The Beta Band were a Scottish group formed in 1996 in St Andrews, Fife, known for a genre-blurring mix of folk, psychedelia, electronica and trip-hop. Fronted by Steve Mason, with Robin Jones, John Maclean and Richard Greentree, they built an early cult following through a trio of EPs later collected as The Three E.P.'s. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1999, followed by Hot Shots II (2001) and Heroes to Zeros (2004) before they disbanded that year. Admired by peers in Radiohead and Oasis, they were chosen to open for Radiohead in 2001 and ranked highly in Q magazine's list of bands to see before you die. Celebrated as an inventive, unpredictable live act, they reunited for touring announced in 2025.
