André Rieu is a Dutch violinist and conductor, born in 1949, who founded the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra and tours the world with it, often playing stadiums. He lives in his native Maastricht, where he performs a regular concert series on the Vrijthof square. Reviewing a film of one of those Maastricht concerts in The Guardian, Tom Service noted it was the highest-grossing concert film in British history at the time of writing in 2015.
