Karen Zoid

Karen Zoid is one of South Africa's most acclaimed rock musicians — a singer, songwriter and guitarist widely credited with reinvigorating Afrikaans rock when she broke through in 2001 with the hit 'Afrikaners is Plesierig'. Known for her powerful voice, sharp songwriting and commanding stage presence, she has released numerous albums in both Afrikaans and English and earned a shelf of South African Music Awards. Beyond music she has hosted the popular TV talk-and-music show 'Republiek van Zoid Afrika', cementing her status as a cultural figure. She remains a major live performer and a respected elder stateswoman of South African rock.
