The room
The Fleece is a pub and live music venue in the Wool Hall on St Thomas Street in Redcliffe, Bristol — a market hall built in 1830 to a design by Richard Shackleton Pope to house the city's wool trade, and Grade II listed since 1975. The ground floor became a pub in 1980, and the room opened as The Fleece and Firkin in 1982 before growing into a 330-capacity music venue whose stage has held Oasis, Pulp, Radiohead and Amy Winehouse. Since 2010 it has been run independently by Chris Sharp of The Blue Aeroplanes, who raised the capacity to 450.
