The room

One of the auditoria at the Baxter Theatre Centre on Main Road in Rondebosch, Cape Town. The Baxter opened on 1 August 1977, is owned and run by the University of Cape Town, and was designed by Jack Barnett and Leslie Broer around a floating roof that lets the outside landscape into the building. It staged progressive, multiracial theatre through the apartheid years and remains one of the Western Cape's principal performing-arts houses.
