OVO Hydro

The OVO Hydro is the 14,300-capacity arena at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, standing beside the SEC Armadillo and the SEC Centre on the site of the former Queen's Dock. Foster + Partners gave it a sloping elliptical form taken from ancient Greek and Roman amphitheatres, and wrapped it in pneumatic translucent cushions that light the foyers by day and make the arena glow at night. It opened on 30 September 2013 with a Rod Stewart concert and now stages more than 140 events a year for over a million visitors; in 2019 it was the second-busiest venue in the world, behind Madison Square Garden.
