The room
A public park and sports ground in the London Borough of Merton, bounded by Hillcross Avenue, London Road and Lower Morden Lane and managed by the borough's parks department. It covers the former grounds of Morden Park House, a small Georgian country house built at the top of the hill in the 1770s for the merchant and distiller John Ewart, and it is a different place from Morden Hall Park nearby. A large circular mound in the park has been identified as a possible Iron Age, Roman or Saxon burial mound; English Heritage believes it was later remodelled into a belvedere with a spiral path up it.
