The room
Hoyt Sherman Place is a house, art gallery and theatre in Des Moines, Iowa, built in 1877 as the home of the banker and politician Hoyt Sherman with the help of the Iowa architect William Foster, and on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977. The Des Moines Women's Club took the house as its clubhouse in 1907, added the city's first public art museum, and completed the auditorium in 1923. The theatre was restored in 2004 and seats 1,252; Dwight Yoakam, Dave Chappelle, Martina McBride and David Sedaris have all played it, and it was inducted into the Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
