The room
The concert-hall wing of San Francisco's War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. Completed in 1980 at a cost of $28 million, the 2,743-seat hall gave the San Francisco Symphony a permanent home of its own. Freed from sharing the neighbouring War Memorial Opera House, the orchestra expanded to a full-time, year-round schedule here.
