Phoenix's largest outdoor concert venue, opened on 9 November 1990 with Billy Joel as its inaugural performer. It seats 8,106 under the pavilion roof plus another 12,000 on the hillside lawn, for a total topping 20,000. Known previously as Desert Sky Pavilion and Ak-Chin Pavilion, its concert season runs April through October. Wu-Tang Clan are hip-hop's most influential collective — the Staten Island crew whose Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993) rewired rap with RZA's grimy, kung-fu-spliced production and a bench of MCs (Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, GZA, ODB) who all became stars in their own right.
