The Workman's Club opened on Wellington Quay in 2010, at the edge of Temple Bar beside the Clarence Hotel, and runs live music across several floors alongside club, comedy, acoustic and new-band nights. Future Islands, Anna Calvi, Kodaline, Fontaines D.C., Damien Dempsey, Imelda May and Father John Misty have all played; Villagers recorded a live album in the room and Royal Blood played their first Irish gig there. A second space, The Workman's Club Cellar, opened underneath in October 2021 with its own stage and two bars and holds upwards of 170 people. It has won a Hot Press/IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year award. Widowspeak are a Brooklyn dream-pop duo whose hazy, dusty songs across albums like Almanac earned the tag 'Mazzy Star's heirs'.
