A Grade II-listed live venue at 568–578 Christchurch Road in Bournemouth, Dorset, opened in 1895 as the Grand Pavilion Theatre. Renamed the Boscombe Grand, then the Boscombe Hippodrome for over 50 years, and later The Royal Ballrooms, it hosted Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and more through the 1960s and early 70s, and remains a live entertainment room. We Are Scientists are a New York indie-rock duo whose caffeinated 2005 debut With Love and Squalor — and legendarily funny live banter — built an enduring following.
