The Opera House is a 1,920-seat commercial touring theatre on Quay Street in Manchester, playing host to touring musicals, ballet, concerts and a Christmas pantomime. It opened in 1912 as the New Theatre, was renamed the New Queen's Theatre in 1915 and took the Opera House name in 1920; Richardson & Gill with Farquarson designed it, and it has been Grade II listed since October 1974. It and its sister theatre the Palace Theatre, on Oxford Street, are run by the same parent company, Ambassador Theatre Group. Todd Rundgren is the Philadelphia studio wizard behind I Saw the Light and Hello It's Me, producer of Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell and a Rock Hall inductee.
