A 1913 working men's club in Hyde Park, Leeds, reborn as one of Britain's best-loved independent venues. Still a social enterprise with its community-club soul intact, its two 400-cap rooms host everyone from cult heroes to arena acts playing secret shows. The Vaselines are the Glasgow duo of Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, whose scrappy pop songs Kurt Cobain covered three times made them indie legends.
