The Wiltern Theatre occupies the base of the Pellissier Building, a 12-storey Art Deco landmark set diagonally to the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue in Los Angeles and clad in blue-green glazed terracotta. The complex is considered one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the United States. The building is privately owned; the theatre is operated by Live Nation. The Damned released the first UK punk single, New Rose, in 1976, then invented goth with Phantasmagoria — and are still gleefully touring the chaos.
