Nottingham's independent rock fortress since 1980 — a 2,000-cap institution whose sticky floors have hosted Nirvana, Guns N' Roses and every metal tour worth its salt. Primal Scream are Bobby Gillespie's Glasgow band whose acid-house-rock communion Screamadelica won the first Mercury Prize and changed British music.
