The Great Hall is the main auditorium of the Auckland Town Hall on Queen Street in central Auckland, New Zealand, opened in 1911 and modelled on Leipzig's Gewandhaus. Seating about 1,500 and celebrated for acoustics rated among the world's finest, it hosts orchestral concerts, touring artists and recitals on its restored pipe organ. Peter Hook & The Light is the band of Peter Hook, the pioneering bassist of Joy Division and New Order, formed in Manchester in 2010 to perform those catalogues in full.
