A 1928 movie palace at Flatbush and DeKalb that put on jazz, blues and early rock and roll, closed in 1962, and spent the next six decades as Long Island University's basketball court. Restoration began in 2017 and it reopened as a venue in 2024. Peter Hook & The Light is the band of Peter Hook, the pioneering bassist of Joy Division and New Order, formed in Manchester in 2010 to perform those catalogues in full.
