The Paradise Rock Club is a 933-capacity general-admission music venue on Commonwealth Avenue beside Boston University, opened in 1977 as the Paradise Theater. One of Boston's storied small rooms and operated by Crossroads Presents, it has hosted early US shows by the likes of U2 and Phish. Melanie C is Sporty Spice of the record-breaking Spice Girls, whose solo career — including Never Be the Same Again — made her the member with the most UK number ones.

It has sat on the edge of Boston University's campus since 22 September 1977, when it opened as the Paradise Theater. Phish's first big Boston show sold it out in January 1989, leaving a couple of hundred people on the pavement outside.
