Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace is a western-themed barbecue restaurant and music venue at Pioneertown, California, near Joshua Tree National Park and four miles north-east of Yucca Valley off California State Route 62. The building is part of the Western film set put up in 1946 for the cowboy actors Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, whose Main Street facades included a cantina. Harriet Allen and her husband Claude "Pappy" Allen bought it in 1982 and gave it its present name, pairing Tex-Mex food with live music; Robyn Celia and Linda Krantz took it on in 2003 and the stage has since held Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Vampire Weekend and Queens Of The Stone Age. Man Man are a Philadelphia experimental rock band whose manic, Waits-ian carnival shows made them a 2000s indie cult favourite.
