York's indoor entertainment hub at the southern edge of the city centre, opposite the medieval walls and named for the nearby barbican at Walmgate Bar. It seats 1,500 or holds 1,900 standing and keeps a busy diary of live music, comedy, sport and conferences. Best known outside music circles as the long-running home of snooker's UK Championship.
