A contemporary open-air amphitheatre in Alpharetta, in Atlanta's northern suburbs, opened in 2008 with a performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Formerly the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park (and later simply Verizon Amphitheatre) before Ameris Bank took the naming rights in 2018, it mainly hosts popular-music artists, comedians and themed symphony concerts. Koe Wetzel is a Texas artist whose rowdy fusion of red-dirt country and grunge built a huge grassroots following before crossover hits like High Road.
