A movie palace in San Francisco's Castro District, built in 1922 to a design by Timothy L. Pflueger, who also drew Oakland's Paramount Theater. Its architecture mixes Beaux-Arts and Spanish Baroque, and the Art Deco marquee that has become the street's landmark was added in 1937. Kim Gordon is an American musician and visual artist best known as the co-founder, bassist and vocalist of the influential alternative rock band Sonic Youth.
