Victoria Hall is a concert hall in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, built in 1888 as an annex to Hanley Town Hall for the town's celebrations of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee the previous year. It is red brick and terracotta, designed by the borough surveyor Joseph Lobley, and Edward Elgar conducted the first performance of his King Olaf here. The hall originally held 2,800 people and now seats 1,467, benches having given way to seating; a 1999 extension added a new entrance and better front-of-house. It is managed by the Ambassador Theatre Group alongside the Regent Theatre, also in Hanley. Jonathan Pie is not a person but a character: a fictional political correspondent played by the English comedian Tom Walker.
