The Oval Hall is the main auditorium of Sheffield City Hall, a Grade II*-listed neo-classical building on Barker's Pool in central Sheffield that opened in 1932 to a design by E. Vincent Harris. Seating 2,271, it is the city's principal concert hall and houses the Grand Willis III organ, the largest in Sheffield. John Cooper Clarke is an English performance poet from Salford, known as the 'Bard of Salford' for the rapid-fire verse he first made his name with during the late-1970s punk era.
