A 2,034-seat heritage-listed theatre at 47–51 Market Street in the Sydney central business district. Designed by Henry Eli White with John Eberson and built between 1926 and 1929, it seats 828 in the stalls, 426 in the Mezzanine Lounge and 780 in the Dress Circle. It programmes film screenings, live theatre and music, has hosted the Sydney Film Festival every year since 1974, and was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 1999. Dracula is a dance act.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10am to 3pm, on site at 49 Market Street. On show days it opens two hours before the performance and stays open until 15 minutes after the main act has started.
Where do you park for the State Theatre in Sydney?
The theatre's preferred car park is under the Queen Victoria Building, entered from York Street, with self-park or valet. Have the ticket validated at the Theatre Manager's Office and it drops to $12 on weeknights after 5pm and at weekends. Town Hall and St James are the nearest trains; Gadigal is the nearest metro.

7 June 1929, as a picture palace billed as 'The Empire's Greatest Theatre'. It was Union Theatres boss Stuart Doyle's idea, designed by architect Henry White, and its first week opened with the film The Patriot and bandleader Will Prior.
Can children go to shows at the State Theatre Sydney?
Under-16s are welcome with a responsible adult, except at events rated 18+. For most shows a child needs their own ticket from their second birthday; younger than that they sit on a lap rather than a seat. Booster seats are not available, and the theatre publishes its seating plan online before you choose.
