An outdoor pavilion near Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, New Hampshire — nearly 9,000 fans, two-thirds under the covered roof, the rest on the lawn. New England's summer-shed classic since 1996. Dave Matthews Band built one of live music's great institutions from Charlottesville, Virginia — a jazz-flecked jam-rock outfit whose Under the Table and Dreaming (1994) and Crash made them America's biggest touring band of the late '90s.
