The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion is an outdoor amphitheatre and indoor theater complex in Camden, New Jersey, in the Camden Waterfront entertainment district on the Delaware River across from Philadelphia. It opened in June 1995 as the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre, known as the E-Centre, and has been renamed four times since: Tweeter Center (2001), Susquehanna Bank Center (2008), BB&T Pavilion (2015) and Waterfront Music Pavilion (2022). The lawn and amphitheatre are used in summer and the indoor theater in winter. Bryson Tiller is a Louisville singer-rapper whose 2015 debut Trapsoul — home to Don't and Exchange — named a whole subgenre of moody R&B.

Asked about the venue

About Freedom Mortgage Pavilion

Is BB&T Pavilion the same as Freedom Mortgage Pavilion?

Yes — same amphitheatre on the Camden waterfront, different name on the sign. It was BB&T Pavilion from 2015 to 2022, briefly Waterfront Music Pavilion, and has been Freedom Mortgage Pavilion since May 2022. Before that: Susquehanna Bank Center (2008–2015), Tweeter Center (2001–2008), and — when it opened in 1995 — the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre. Six names, one venue at 1 Harbour Boulevard.

What is Freedom Mortgage Pavilion's capacity?

25,488 all in — a covered pavilion plus a wide grass lawn sloping back toward the Philadelphia skyline across the Delaware. In autumn and winter the lawn closes and it works as a climate-controlled indoor theatre for up to 7,000.
