A contemporary open-air amphitheatre in Alpharetta, in Atlanta's northern suburbs, opened in 2008 with a performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Formerly the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park (and later simply Verizon Amphitheatre) before Ameris Bank took the naming rights in 2018, it mainly hosts popular-music artists, comedians and themed symphony concerts. Brooks & Dunn are the best-selling duo in country history — Boot Scootin' Boogie alone soundtracked a line-dancing epidemic.
