A contemporary open-air amphitheatre in Alpharetta, in Atlanta's northern suburbs, opened in 2008 with a performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Formerly the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park (and later simply Verizon Amphitheatre) before Ameris Bank took the naming rights in 2018, it mainly hosts popular-music artists, comedians and themed symphony concerts. Breaking Benjamin are a Pennsylvania hard-rock band led by Benjamin Burnley, whose brooding radio staples The Diary of Jane and Breath drove multi-platinum albums.
