What is the bag policy at O2 Academy Brixton?
One small bag per person, no bigger than A4 — 29.7cm by 21cm by 15cm. Rucksacks and anything larger are refused, and every bag is checked on arrival.
Is there parking at O2 Academy Brixton?
None — the venue has no parking facilities at all and says public transport is by far the easiest way in. Brixton tube is about 800 metres away on the Victoria line, with a lift from street to platform, and the Night Tube runs there on Fridays and Saturdays.
Was O2 Academy Brixton always called Brixton Academy?
No. It opened on 19 August 1929 as the Astoria, a cinema and variety palace, reopened briefly in 1972 as the Sundown, and became Brixton Academy on 7 October 1983 with a set from reggae artist Eek-a-Mouse. The Grade II listed building still has its 140ft dome and a stage framed like Venice's Rialto bridge.
