A music, theatre and dining venue on Newark Avenue in the Village neighbourhood of Downtown Jersey City. Built in 1910 as a community centre, it held bingo nights, dance recitals and concerts and later served as a basketball practice hall before being restored as a performing arts and gallery complex. It is operated by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. Allah-Las are a Los Angeles band whose sun-faded 60s garage-pop — honed while several members worked at Amoeba Records — fills albums like their 2012 self-titled debut.
