Built in 1955 for Alberta's fiftieth anniversary and still owned by the province. Home to Calgary Opera and Alberta Ballet, which means the touring bands and comedians who play it get a room built for acoustics rather than volume. Alberta Ballet was founded by Muriel Taylor and Dr. Ruth Carse in 1958 and turned professional in 1966.
