Dune Peninsula is a waterfront park at Point Defiance in Tacoma, Washington, opened in 2019 on the remediated site of the former Asarco copper smelter. Named after Tacoma-born Dune author Frank Herbert, it hosts an outdoor summer concert series along Commencement Bay. Alabama Shakes are a soul-rock band from Athens, Alabama fronted by Brittany Howard's volcanic voice; Boys & Girls and the Grammy-winning Sound & Color made them one of the great modern live acts.
