Manchester Academy is four concert rooms on the University of Manchester campus, run by the Students' Union: Academy 1 holds 2,600, Academy 2 950, Club Academy 650 and Academy 3 470. They are housed in two buildings — the original 1957 Students' Union, which began hosting concerts in 1963 with Humphrey Lyttelton and His Band, and the purpose-built Academy that opened in October 1990. The rooms took the Academy name in 2004 after the universities merged; unlike the other UK venues called Academy, this one is not run by the Academy Music Group. 6LACK (pronounced 'black') is an American R&B and rap artist, born Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr. in Baltimore and raised in East Atlanta, Georgia.
