About
YOASOBI are a Japanese pop duo formed in Tokyo in 2019, pairing producer and songwriter Ayase with vocalist Ikura (Lilas Ikuta). Their concept is unusual: each song adapts a published short story into music, folding J-pop, electropop and pop rock into fast, intricately structured arrangements. Debut single 'Yoru ni Kakeru' topped the 2020 year-end Japan Hot 100, and 2023's anime theme 'Idol' set a record with 22 non-consecutive weeks at number one, becoming the first Japanese-language song to top Billboard's Global Excl. US chart. On stage the pair have graduated from arena and dome tours at home to international festival slots including Coachella and Lollapalooza, drawing large, devoted crowds and cementing a reputation as one of Japan's biggest modern live draws.
