Benjamin Miller, born on 5 May 1983 and known as Wrekonize, is an American underground rapper and a member of the Miami band ¡Mayday!. He was born in London to an England-born mother and a father who had emigrated from Cape Town, and the family moved to Miami in 1988, where his parents formed a band of their own and occasionally performed with Guru. Being introduced to Guru at eleven is what pushed him towards making his own music. He took his stage name from a piece of graffiti he found in Martha Cooper's book Subway Art, and says it stands for being observant and alert to your surroundings. In 2003 he won MTV Battle II: The Takeover in Times Square.
